Smart chip
The so called ink level monitor, or smart chip. The electronic chip is not smart but hp.epson and all the other printer manufacturer are who put the chip on the cartridge. Now we can't even call it robbery they are a hold up. Here is a tip before you purhase a printer make sure you read the printer reference. If the printer using a smart chip or ink level monitoring device only a stupid sucker buy it. Purchase a printer which monitor the ink level by software like the canon printers. Most of the ink cartridges specially the new HP. so small that you have only 2 milli liter ink in it. (27 drop) how far this take you in printing.

Most of the printers today give you a same print out, don't fall for a claim that our ink won't fade for 35 or 60 years. They are dye base ink and all will fade in color. Only a few printer using pigmented or archival inks.
